The Order
Metacritic.com: 19 (Yikes!)
My Score: 04/10
I'm not really sure what was wrong with this movie. Maybe it was too slow. Maybe it wasn't sure what it wanted to be. Maybe the cast wasn't sure how to play it. Maybe the cast was all better in A Knight's Tale.
What's wrong with Brian Helgeland? Look at some of the stuff he's turned out. He won a damn academy award for the script of L.A. Confidential. He wrote and directed Payback and A Knight's Tale... And then this. Hey, say what you will about A Knight's Tale. That movie entertains the shit out of me. I mean, this guy wrote all of Chaucer's funny lines ("I'm a writer... I give the truth SCOPE"). And then he makes this thing.
Anyway, I guess The Order is okay. I mean, it's not nearly as bad as Ledger's last project, The Four Feathers. I swear to you. If anyone who reads this ever sees The Four Feathers, and I find out about it, I'm going to kick your ass. No, seriously.
The plot is okay. The fat guy says "trousers" a couple of times. Robocop is evil. Everyone has a line or two in Latin. The demon kids are a little funny, and maybe a tiny bit scary. Shannyn Sossamon is really cute. Heath Ledger is eh, whatever. I dunno. Somehow, I ended up enjoying the movie. You probably don't want to see it though.
