KimFall has arrived
by Kim

A letter to my cousin...

Time has passed much too fast. We had our first cool night last Sunday. I left my window open all night, and let the cold air flow over my body as I slept. Fall has arrived. Leaves are beginning to shrivel and turn colors. The sky is a crystal clear blue and crispy fresh. I can feel Halloween approaching. The stores are all decked out in their orange and black, with bags of candy lining the shelves, and the seasonal costume stores opening their doors and dressing their windows. Speaking of windows, I've been leaving mine open as much as possible. Refreshing the stale air inside the house with that crispness from outside. Better than air conditioning. Tammy's doing well. Still chasing squirrels from window to window. Which makes for mad fun since the squirrels are dashing every which way in their preparation for winter. You can almost smell it coming. It's getting dark by 6:30-7pm. Soon daylight savings will throw us all into darkness by early evening. It will be a sad time for me. I miss the sun, despite my aversion to it landing anywhere upon on my skin. The light means life, and without it the world seems to die. The trees go into their deep sleep, the spiders move indoors, and the birds fly south. The hurricanes we've witnessed this year forebode a hard winter to come. I hold my breath for the snow that will surely fall.

Fall. It's here. Wish you were too.
Your loving cuz,
Kim
