The Paulaner Brewery (or monks thereabouts) have been making beer for public consumption since 1634, almost 200 years before the first Octoberfest in Munich -- you've got to believe that they've gotten it right by now.
This beer is just plain gorgeous. It really honestly amazes me on every sip that this is a lager. The nose is all malt, and it just flows right into the flavor. It would be sweet were it not for the way the hops blend so wonderfully in. It just flows across your tongue crisply, and leaves these wonderful almost caramelish tones. Just plain lovely.
There's not much I can say aside from: this is exactly what a Märzen should be. 'Tis the end of the season, folks. Get some while you can.
